Hi, this is Alejandro, and this is my bike. This is where you’ll be riding this week. Let’s go!
Welcome to the best blog out of harmony, this is Week 9 folks.
Setting up new laptop & a really bad cold kept me away from blogging but now I’m back and with renovated force I’m ready to share with you cool ideas from the journey with the Master Keys. Ready?
Hey, just curious, talking about sickness, do you know the definition of a placebo?
According to Google, a placebo is a
Substance that lacks curative action but produces a therapeutic effect if the patient takes it convinced that it is a really effective medicine; It has the same appearance, taste and form as a real medicine but is made of inert products and without any active ingredient.
And boy, are those inert products powerful.
Medical science is baffled with the placebo effect. To them it is inexplicable how the body can, literally, release some sort of curative energy held within, that is more powerful than drugs and can defeat depression, chronic diseases, aggressive pathogens, incurable illnesses, and even pains so bad that they need surgeries to treat.
And yet, they work.
Want proof? We have tons of stories! From cyclists who ride full gas on the velodrome on a time trail, then 4 hours later take a little “booster” pill only to set personal records. Or a kid in rural England, who was born with an incurable skin disease, so rare only other 20 people in England had, where the skin gets dark, thick and rough like an elephant’s hyde, but after 2 weeks of the doctor putting him into hypnosis and saying the affirmation “the warts growth will stop and in its place will begin growing healthy, normal looking skin,” was noticeably much better, and ultimately defeated the disease completely! And even after the patients are told by their doctors that they got no real medicine, that somehow they themselves had internally been cured on their own, the effect is still present, the body in fact has permanently cured itself by the power of suggestion. That’s how powerful our minds are and how mysterious the inner workings of the body, guys.
Even Haanel shares with us the letter from Andrews. Who after hearing his doctor say to his mom that he lost his son to the same condition he had, built up an affirmation so strong, so complete, and repeated it with such enthuuuuusiasm, that he could grow into a “strong, straight, well formed man.”
One thing is remarkable on the case of the English kid, though. The news were so amazing that the boy was all over the newspapers, and they started to look for the rare poor folks that had the condition as well, to try and see if they could get cured too. But none did, not a bit. The doctor who treated the boy with the suggestion under hypnosis did the same with everyone, but when he treated the boy he didn’t knew exactly what the boy had. To him they were normal warts, and he had treated those with the same hipnosis method many times before with great results, so he knew that was possible. The interesting part comes here, he wasn’t the kid’s original physician, he wasn’t even a doctor yet! As an intern, he got a chance of treating the boy after asking the appointed doctor “Why don’t you treat the kid’s warts with hypnosis?” The main doctor turned to him with big eyes and just replied in an angry tone, “Why don’t you?” and stormed out of the room, leaving the two alone to perform the procedure. 2 weeks later, when the kid came back for a check up, the intern took him to see the original physician who was in a surgery. The doctor came out the operating room and looked at the kid with his jaw dropped to the floor. That’s when he informed the cocky intern that something like that was simply impossible. The kid had been diagnosed with an incurable disease. Now comes the rest of the patients wanting the magical cure, but now our cocky “hypnotist” knew that he wasn’t treating just warts and that he indeed had performed something much like a miracle, and how could he be able to do the impossible? He performed the same hypnosis and mental suggestion with the rest of the patients, but now he knew what he was up against. His belief had been questioned, his faith wasn’t there anymore, and none of the other patients had any effect. Not one.
Going through Part 9 we read the prescription on the intro. Any and all conditions are produced by men, and we are allowed to take control of those conditions, as long as we are willing to change. And the pill in this case is the Law of Substitution. Those thoughts set on fire by feelings propel our actions into the world of flesh, now we really see how conditions are the result of action. And now, we’ve given the tools to “make or unmake ourselves,” and we know what those results could be.
I’m reading sentence 11: “… For instance, if you require health, a realization of the fact that the “I” in you is spiritual and that all spirit is one; that wherever a part is, the whole must be, will bring about a condition of health, because every cell in the body must manifest the truth as you see it. If you see sickness; they will manifest sickness; if you see perfection they must manifest perfection. The affirmation, “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy”, will bring about harmonious conditions. The reason for this is because the affirmation is in strict accordance with the Truth, and when truth appears every form of error or discord must necessarily disappear.”
9-28: “When a thought of anger, jealousy, fear or worry creeps in, just start your affirmation going. The way to fight darkness is with light — the way to fight cold is with heat — the way to overcome evils is with good.”
9-29 gave me the big kick in the butt: “Spirit is omnipresent, ever ready; all that is required is a proper recognition of its omnipotence, and a willingness or desire to become the recipient of its beneficent effects.”
I just cried right there, folks! It was too much happiness in one single moment for me to contain. Yes. We are the placebo. We are creating conditions out of our thought pills, everyday. What kind of prescriptions are we taking?
Part 9 may came wrapped in beautiful floral scent but just handed us the tools and said which pill to take, now let’s keep persisting until we succeed, folks! Home awaits!
Please share with me your thoughts on placebos, and for those with free time, let me share a great documentary about them.
Hope this has been of value and if it was, please, don’t forget to check out next week 😉
